I have 3 external Seagate drives that I use about 1-2x a month. I also have 4 small external drives <4tb that I use about the same.

I have a spare computer ( i5-3570k ) with 6 SATA ports. I was wondering if I should shuck the drives and install them into the case vs leaving them as-is. What would make the drives last longer? A lot of this info is no longer available online.

I am in a quantry as what to do.
