Seems to me repainting the entire feature would be reasonable. It also appears they didn't clean up any of the dirt they left on the road around the repaved area.

Yeah it looks silly, but haven't they just done what is actually required of them? The local highways authority is responsible for maintaining road markings and they clearly have failed to do so judging from the part of the road that was not dug up

agreed, there should be some middle ground here though, I also think our utilities get way too much freedom to cut up the road and badly restore it in gereral.
