I'm looking to get a couple of 1 or 2TB external drives to back up some bulky video files I've used for editing in the past, don't really plan to reuse but would like to keep stashed in drawers and maybe booted up once every six months at the most. I've heard about SSDs being less reliable if not booted up every now and then, but not seen much within the last year or so.

Should I still stick with HDDs if I'm not expecting them to get bashed around and might even forget to boot them up for a year or so? Or do SSDs at that volume look better than they did a couple of years ago?

I've already got multiple kinds of backup for all the files I really care to hang on to, this is just about deciding the best way to back stuff up and take my mind off it as much as possible.
