After many years of hoarding hardware I decided to build myself a NAS. My setup will be 3x10TB in RAID5, that is clear for me. Case will be Jonsbo N2. But now I am trying to decide on the other hardware.

I have bought a set for a good price (200€). Specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte B550I Aorus PRO AX

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600X

RAM: 16GB Kingston Fury 3200MT/s

But now I am trying to decide if this set isn't a huge overkill. R5 3600X is kinda hungry so I would try to buy some cheaper and less power consuming APU with monolitic core like 4650G.

On the other hand - my workhorse ITX setup has these specs:

Motherboard: ASRock H370M-ITX/ac

CPU: Intel Core i5-9500

RAM: 32GB Kingston Fury 2666MT/s

I was considering if this route would be better for the NAS. But this board has its problems - couple of CPU legs are missing in the socket and due to that integrated GPU is not working. Also the NIC is sometimes behaving strangely and I am not sure what is going on.

Please, help me decide what would be the best route to take. Thank you!
