Hi everyone,

I recently decided to switch from paying $10 a month for 2TB of iCloud storage to buying a 2TB external hard drive. My plan is to move all my photos (13k+ with videos) to the external drive and then wipe my phone/iCloud storage to start fresh. My idea is to transfer any new iCloud photos to the external drive regularly for backup.

Here's what I've done so far: I dragged my entire Photos library to the external hard drive. I just want to confirm that this is the right approach. After I delete the photos from iCloud, will I be able to simply plug in the external drive and access all my photos as needed?

I've attached a screenshot for reference.
