I'm setting up a new-to-me 5820, and I can't figure out exactly how the flex bays work.

I have the OS set up on a M.2 SSD in a PCIe slot, and I just bought two 8TB HDDs to use in the lower SATA flex bay. Sorry for the noob question, but how exactly does hot-swapping work? I assumed you'd eject the disk in the same way as a removable drive (in the system tray) but neither of the drives show up there, they're shown as internal disks.

I'm a little hesitant to just yank the drives while they're spinning, so is there a way I can make them "removable" or is there another way to do this? I'd rather not have to shut down every time I want to swap.

I'm on Win11, the hardware supports hot-swapping, and the only other detail I can think of that would be relevant is that in the bios the SATA is set to AHCI instead of RAID. Apparently these computers normally come with RAID set as default, but mine (used) didn't. There's nothing important on the HDD's yet so I can still switch them to RAID, but I don't want a RAID array, I just want individual drives.

Thanks in advance!
