I want to pull data from some really old IDE hard drives and CDs and save them onto new 18TB SATA drives.

Many of these SATA / IDE to USB 3.0 adapters say they have a max supported drive size of 12TB, 16TB, etc. but not 18TB.

Is there a physical reason why an adapter spec'd at 12TB max wouldn't be able to function with an 18TB drive?

I'm trying to figure out if this limit is due to some real reason or if the item description is just out of date (ie. they made the item description for this adapter when 18TB drives didn't even exist).
