The Olympics is a business and exists only to make money.

You mean drinking sweetened orthophosphoric acid is not good for you?

Inconceivable.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It feels like you're emphasizing the "acid" part as being bad for you, but the "sweetened" part is even worse.

[–] MrGeekman@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

To some extent, it kinda depends on how it’s sweetened, but yeah.

Damn right, who is going to sponsor the Olympics then? Show me a multi billion dollar company with worldwide reach, no ethical dilemmas, great conditions for workers and sells something good for our health and well being that has the spare cash to sponsor the Olympics...

I think "Big Kale" might be short a few bucks.

Drinking Coke is always a choice, choose not to if you dont like it.

Nice victim blaming

[–] vzq@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 year ago

Or you could, you know, just run it as a regular sport event.

Not everything has to cost billions of dollars and be a global media spectacle.

So by your logic everyone that drinks coke is an unethical shill that wants to fuck over workers worldwide and hates their health. This completely disregards people that don't know that drinking it causes any of those things - I don't see how they're to blame for the propaganda machine that coke's ad department is.

Still if you do know about these things (and you seem to do) I sure hope you're boycotting coke or otherwise you would be complicit in all the fucked up shit they get up to.

Guess what? They won't. Coca-Cola brings MONEY.

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Delicious, refreshing money...

[–] sunzu@kbin.run 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

a more effective strat is DON'T BUY THEIR SHIT!

[–] affiliate@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

an even more effective strategy would be inventing a time machine and then stopping coca cola from ever existing

[–] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Unrelated. Does anyone think coke tastes bitter?

[–] abfarid@startrek.website 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Did you say "bitter"? Coca-Cola? With 15% sugar content? Did you mean to ask if there are any bitterness undertones in addition to sweetness or..?

[–] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I asked what I meant to ask. And believe me, I had the same reaction.

[–] abfarid@startrek.website 1 points 1 year ago

Then, no. I can't say Coca-Cola or Pepsi ever tasted bitter to me. The sweetness is for sure the dominant flavor. Followed by, maybe sourness.

[–] stankmut@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Since I got covid last year, I haven't been able to drink any brand of cola. It has a weird gross flavor that I guess could be described as being bitter. I would never have described it as bitter before and I think most people wouldn't either.
