Did Conrad buy it? Look at the damn background of his room when he does podcasts. Now imagine his house has a fire.
You think insurance companies would understand "50K value for a wood board that says ECW, because it was used on some indy shows 30 years ago"?
Or all those belts? His whole vibe is what makes adults embarassed to be known as pro wrestling fans.
Whenever WWE comes to Cleveland, they always sell a browns themed championship belt. And it goes for $600. AND IT SELLS!!! People are paying $600 for an orange and brown championship belt with the browns logo as the centerplate. If you want to see it, just watch Summerslam, and look at the part where the Miz introduces himself as the host of Summerslam. He's in the dawg pound. About 3 rows above him someone is showing it off. And it's not like the other belts are much less. I think they sold the WWE belts for $500.
Or these action figures they sell for $80. To adults. To keep in the packaging. Or these gold chair seats that sold innitially for $1200 for the first 3 rows of summerslam, which are the exact same as the non-gold versions for rows 4-15. Those sold for 800 innitially.
It just highlights to me how a LARGE portion of wrestling fans have no concept of monetary value. If ALL wrestling fans realized that $80 action figure is really just a $6 action figure, then the prices would plummet.
If wrestling fans realized these replica belts are NOT something to wear in public, and basically an oversized toy for adults, then I doubt they would even be made. The ONLY use case they have is for cosplaying. And even then, you're REALLY commiting to the costume.
And then you consider I'm saying a $600 belt has no value, now Conrad is talking about a $90k belt, that has historical significance in the same way that a prop on a tv show from the 80s would. And anyone who would pay that kind of money for THAT is a fool.
Conrad has shown himself to be, always has been, and always will be, a money mark. The ONLY way I can understand all these big names doing podcasts with him, is if he's paying them huge paychecks to the point the big names be fools to say no, and Conrad would be a fool to say yes.
