As I mentioned in another thread I use LLMs mostly as a translation aid:
- Looking for words to fit well within a certain context.
- To conjugate or decline words for me, so I don't need to check Wiktionary.
- Spell-proofing.
What the author describes seems to be pretty much the programmer's version of the above. As in: it speeds up what you're doing, but you're still the one doing it.
And overall what they're saying seems sensible. I think that the "LLM IS USELESS LOL LMAO" and the "LLM IS THE FUCHURE! FEEL THE AGI!" crowds are simply too loud, but I'm glad that some people see the matter past both crowds.
