My honest thought is that zoos should be illegal by now.
My honest thought is that zoos should repurpose exclusively as wildlife preservation and rehabilitation centers. Many zoos already do this in addition being exhibits.
The exhibition side of zoos should be adjusted to give priority to animal safety and privacy. Certain viewing hours, only so many people per day, permaban on shows and performances (other than educational demonstrations highlighting the care given to the animals), limitations like that.
Zoos that don’t have the space/staff/equipment to totally comply should simply be closed and their animals transferred to better equipped facilities.
Fuck zoos.
