Dwarf Fortress players know why this is bad. (You can't manage cat population as well as other domestic animals due to some mechanics. This leads to their growh being hard to stop. Too many can lead to poor performance.)

I do not want this. Cats ruin ecosystems when unchecked. Cat colonies are a huge problem.
Cat aids were developed in a lab to disenfranchise the cat population. The government was trying to suppress cat shenanigans.

I think kitten eyes are somewhat wonky, but I haven't had kittens in 15 years, so I might not remember them properly.
That would still be a huge global problem.
