Dwarf Fortress players know why this is bad. (You can't manage cat population as well as other domestic animals due to some mechanics. This leads to their growh being hard to stop. Too many can lead to poor performance.)

I think kitten eyes are somewhat wonky, but I haven't had kittens in 15 years, so I might not remember them properly.
