I'm into buying additional HDD for my desktop. As I work with audio I'm not really into clickety enterprise/7200 stuff and if I'm going to spend more than 15$/TB on CRM drive I'll rather save for few smaller solid state drives at this point. From time to time I see people selling WD drives (mostly purple) packed in antistatic bags advertised as new. Only way to check them before buying are serial numbers, but when I type those in, regardless of production date, they can only be found as sold in Thailand where they are made and in Out of Region status. Is it possible WD is trying to push refurbished drives without labeling them as such?
