I have various Linux distros i want to play on my nVidia shield pro in addition to my .flac piano recordings that are all accessible locally over my intranet.

Currently I am plugging in a USB 3.0 16tb external drive to my nVidia pro to do this. The problem is as soon as the power from the nVidia is off it places the external drive in a weird state. I have to unplug the drive and reconnect it every time I want to play something if it’s been sitting a while.

I have a rack mounted UniFi setup and I’m looking at getting a Synology RS422+

Is this going to do what I want it to?
