To be fair, it still takes a couple of weeks of training to get proficient with a gun. But that's a far cry from any medieval weapon.

Hardly any proficiency needed at point blank
It’s a flintlock though, so just loading it and reliably firing it took a lot more work than the guns any toddler can use today (once loaded anyway).
