Heey guys,
Quick question related to SSD Vs nvme and PCI adapter use
My 2tb sata harddrive died I wanna replace it with a sata sandisk SSD 2tb.
But I heard and read about a option to install a PCI adapter to expand nvme SSD my slots are full on the mainboard
I read that these PCI adapter required PCI split and PCI raid function on the mainboard?
My mainboard does not have this .
Also I read if I use my 2x PCI e x16 with 1videocard. The second pic will run at x8 not x16 anymore?
So what will happen or what is smart todi if I buy a pci e adapter with max x8 speed and put in a nvme 2tb of Samsung Evo or Lexar 2tb?
Will it works and what are the advantages and disadvantages of doing this?
I read that Sata ssd is serial working and nvme is parrarell and that nvme always faster then normal SSD?
Is that true? Or will PCI e adapter make it slow and bad?
Like nvme slots internal on mainboard can talk directly to cpu while nvme using PCI talks to chipset not CPU directly.
So I'm confused?
