Something about using "you" is so direct, like it's a Twitter post to a person's followers and not the most watched cable channel in the country.

I saw a tweet that was similar, with something innocuous (like "they didn't find evidence so they closed the investigation") followed by "they think you're stupid" and it was jarring but at least you can imagine someone's followers are all already at agreement.
