I'm not sure if this is allowed here, but it is related.

I've playing with a HP / Quantum FiberChannel(FC) LTO6 tape drive that has an ethernet connection. I think it was normal used in a scalar i500 tape changer.

The drive works with all of the normal linux commands over FC.

Does anyone know about the ethernet port? It gets an IP from DHCP.

I ran an NMAP port scan and found some open ports. The short version of the output:

PORT      STATE  SERVICE       VERSION

7/tcp     closed echo

9/tcp     closed discard

19/tcp    closed chargen

23/tcp    closed telnet

4165/tcp  open   altcp?

4166/tcp  open   joost?

4167/tcp  open   ddgn?

4168/tcp  closed pslicser

4169/tcp  open   iadt?

8614/tcp  closed canon-bjnp4

9614/tcp  open   ssl/iadt-tls?

53670/tcp open   unknown

53671/tcp open   unknown

Port 4165 is interesting and gives back a "%" prompt.

Any ideas? There is nothing other than it can be used for encryption key mgmt on the quantum/hp about how to use the ethernet port on the back of these drives. I'm assuming that I can get diag and status info somehow.
