Not sure if this is the right place to post about this, but I can't seem to find another suitable subreddit. I have a Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD running in an admittedly cheap, heatsink-less enclosure via USB-C.

I'm using this as a backup target, and under full write activity, the temperature got unbelievably hot. 85 C (185 F). I'm really worried that I'm going to kill this thing if it runs this hot all the time.

Yes, that's a digital meat thermometer in the photo. It's all I had to check the temp with.

Aside from getting a heatsink-based external enclosure, should I be taking any other actions to lower the operating temperature?

Thanks so much in advance.
