Oh nah. Woke up to the sounds of something scurrying and scratching in the roof. Possums? Rats? We get possums quite regularly but the sound they make is a bit of a thud when they run across the roof, and this sound Is different, like something is inside the roof.

Rats. 100%. They can lift roof tiles and squeeze into the tinyest of cracks and stuff. Theyβre an absolute nightmare tbh.
Rats are difficult to be rid of. Basically you want to find their run (their paths) and bait around there.
There is also bait you can chuck up into the roof. Iirc, they dehydrate the rats and they leave to find a water source. Be aware of you have pets though, as cats may catch the rat and get poisoned too, or dogs may eat the bait.
Other than that, trying to find where they're getting in and closing it up. They're notoriously difficult, but don't leave food out or anything that would attract them.
A pest controller wouldn't do much more than the above tbh, having worked for a pest control company.
apologies we were collecting a sample
I setup my security camera yesterday and it caught a few possums overnight! I had to turn the sensitivity down and customise the monitoring zone because they kept triggering movement notifications
POSSSSSUUUUUUMMMMM
Anti-gratitude thread.
Only slept around five hours last night and I can't be stuffed meal prepping. But I shall persevere.
Also the cost of groceries. $100 just for my food? Kinda crazy.
Night, fam. See you in the morning.
Rainbow pretty
I eventually recovered from this morning's headache with some decent pho, only to end up staying out late with a wine and cider. Probably will be okay, I don't feel as crazily buzzed as I did last night, but I've taken a preventative Nurofen anyway. It was a good night of catching up so I don't mind. Lots to do when I wake up though so hope I don't feel too crummy in the morning. Good night everyone.
Gratitude thread.
Went to the 1000 steps yesterday. Was good fun. They even had toilets with toilet paper, soap and hand driers.
I'm grateful for the amount of shit I've accumulated. I was actually thinking about it last night - I've managed to gather a lot of stuff over the last 5 years. Before that I actually had very little, I had a $30 Optus phone and a rubbish bag with a days worth of clothes. That was all I had when I entered care in 2018.
Since then I've managed to get so much more than I could've ever predicted. It's really, really weird to think about. And even with the theft and destruction of a bunch of things, it hasn't really affected me much. I don't mean mentally, obviously it didn't feel good to lose my things, but in terms of everything else, I still have enough things that I'm able to do just about everything I want/need to do. I can still play my games and work on (some) of my projects. That's crazy too, and I'm really really lucky to have the amount of things I do
Get in loser, for the JOYRIDE!

You know how sometimes when you're hungry you can open your mouth and saliva fires out from your salivary glands under your tongue like a friggin venom spitting snake? Usually happens at the worst times and a loved one might catch a stray. I might be nuts but I think I can do that on command. Is that normal?
Some of us can gleek at any time.
