"Already"? Bitch, literally ever since Biden got elected I've been hearing the local racist yahoots call her "whore", "ugly bitch", and various flavors of the "she's a trans man" thing they tried to apply to Michelle Obama. This isn't new.

They were demonizing her before Biden was even the nominee.

Never liked Kamala. Choosing a former cop/prosecutor as your VP right after the BLM protests felt like a real slap in the face. Voting for Biden anyways but don't love his VP.

Should have been the woman from Michigan, Gretchen.

[–] Zipitydew@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

I think it could be Whitmer now for President. But in 2020 she had only been Governor for 1 year. That would have been potentially off-putting to Michigan voters to have their new Governor bail already for a VP gig. And Biden needed to win Michigan.

It makes sense, she's intensely disliked. It wouldn't surprise me to see Trump run on a platform of "You aren't voting for Biden, you're voting for Kamala. We all know Biden's not going to last."

[–] imPastaSyndrome@lemm.ee 30 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They literally did that last election

[–] aStonedSanta@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

And sadly it will have more impact now due to the way. You know aging works and all.

[–] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 24 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think it's just that they see her as the likely replacement. They were already saying Biden was old and being puppetted and she wasn't a primary attack vector.

Also Harris's approval ratings are better than Biden's, but only she gets called "intensely disliked".

Come on, you weren't talking about "her staff" when you said she was intensely disliked. The Republicans aren't campaigning to her staff. The relevant population for a campaign is the general voting public. Which approve of her more than Biden, but he's not considered to be intensely disliked (though lots of people, on both the left and the right, do dislike him intensely).

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No, I'm saying even the people who work directly for her do not like her. So what does that say about her election prospects?

[–] Mog_fanatic@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I mean I don't give a crap one way or the other but by that metric trump has absolutely no chance in hell. I mean his entire damn staff hates him. Almost literally... By November 2020 91% of his top level staff had turned over.. And a ton of them weren't fired, they resigned. But guess what? It doesn't matter at all because it's the voters that matter and not how their staff feels about them...

[–] meowMix2525@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah but Trump's base finds him irresistibly charismatic and Kamala is completely lacking in that department. They're also probably hated by their staff for completely different reasons, not the least of which on Trump's end being his lies and his need for unyielding loyalty, i.e. the exact mechanisms by which his base has come to support him so rabidly.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don't see why the Far Right bothers, the Far Left does a much better job at it.

[–] 4am@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

That’s because the far left criticizes real things, and then far left makes up dumb shit like “Jo n the Ho gotta GO”

[–] jprice@kbin.run 7 points 1 year ago

No matter who wins this election, I give you all permission to knock out the right wing hardliners in your family during thanksgiving.

[–] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

She is a terrible replacement pick - please lets get someone else.

[–] Jerkface@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago (3 children)

"Anybody but X!"

picks y

"Anybody but Y!"

[–] Zipitydew@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No I think people are pretty consistent on this one. Harris was and still is a bad VP choice. I voted for Biden anyway because fuck Trump. But Harris has no chance as President.

She didn't even make it to Iowa in 2020. https://www.politico.com/news/2019/12/03/kamala-harris-drops-out-out-of-presidential-race-074902

[–] aStonedSanta@lemm.ee 9 points 1 year ago

Yeah. She’s generally disliked by everyone I know ~20-45. Across the board lol. It’s kinda funny tbh. And then you read about how no one wants to work for her and it’s like welp. Sometimes you gotta just read the crowd.

[–] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

A poll being highlighted today has her one point above Trump competitively... and she's performing worse in that poll than Hillary Clinton.

She's such an awful pick.

[–] Maggoty@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Lmao yeah that's true.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Pro status quo. That is how I would describe her.

[–] TheReturnOfPEB@reddthat.com 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

VP Harris is who I want fighting them.

President Harris is also acceptable.

[–] IzzyScissor@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Who's the republican VP again? And once we even figure that out, do we think Trump will try to kill them too or nah?
