Recently, the mocking framework Moq made the developer news by trying to change how it requested sponsorship. This caused a lot of uproar in the community, with anger over how the changes were made, what the changes did, and in the idea that open-source software projects might ask for money.

With all of this going on, let's break down what happened specifically with Moq, including what the changes were and if we should use it in our projects going forward. Then, we will look at open-source software in general to understand the growing trend among packages to change how the monetization of the package works.
