If I would buy a hard drive and not touch it, would it break like a used drive? Or would it possibly last for 30+ years if kept in optimal storage conditions? What about external hard drives? Would they last the same amount of time? And more importantly, what causes a drive to break except physical shock and issues present from the factory?
