That's a really good point. We never hear about thr civilization that tried to build a structure with the small stones on the bottom and crushed everyone to death when it collapsed.

[–] GoosLife@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

You know, if they did build it like that, and the blocks fell straight down, it would arrange itself into a pyramid shape, so who knows. Maybe they all did that and we just assume they built pyramids on purpose.

This further proves that the Big Bottom conspiracy is covering up the facts they don't want you to know!

Damn, I'm a bottom why did no one let me in on the conspiracy?

Well, there is one famous story about a tower so tall it toppled. Whether fiction, embellished or actually true - by virtue of its age it proves that the concept wasn't entirely foreign.

Fat bottom tombs they make the rockin world go round.

See I don't get this "logic"

All of these ancient buildings had a similar structure, therefore a fantastic secret underwater civilization exists

I love Sneferu's pyramid. They realized halfway through the were building it too steeply, so just changed the angle for the last half.

Maybe they just ran out of material and still wanted a pointy tip

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

No, the foundations were unstable and they needed to do something to reduce the weight.

[–] AWistfulNihilist@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

The bent pyramid is so cool, it's the second pyramid they built that fucked up. Once they had to change the angle to stop the burial chambers from collapsing, they started work on the 3rd and final Red pyramid, which they nailed and buried Sneferu in.

They used all that knowledge that they gained in failure directly to create the great pyramid. It's a unbroken chain of engineering marvels!

[–] manucode 12 points 1 year ago

They left out all the ziggurats

[–] Rooskie91@discuss.online 11 points 1 year ago

The difference between a pyramid and a pile of rocks is organization. It's a really not a leap to figure it out.

They all learned it here.
