Imagine you have 2 identical drives with the same data but you bitlocker one of them.

How much less reliable will the bitlocker drive be in general as a backup. Assume data recovery services will not be used.

I’m not sure how bitlocker keeps the decryption key but if that portion of the drive ever gets corrupt then the data is lost? Or is that not how encryption works? The encryption key is baked into all the data and as long as you have parts with data you will always be able to retrieve the data?
