I have external drives that are 99% full. I use them as read only but every now and then I correct an organizational error or delete a movie and insert a higher quality version or change the metadata, etc. Being 99% full means there is basically no room for wear leveling. Is this dangerous? To be going in and fucking with a full drive? My understanding is that the drive will flip to read only before it is too damaged. Is that anyone's real world experience?
