HI! i will soon obtain an old "Nas LACIE Ethernet Disk 2T ECS PATA" just like this one:

Ebay / Specs

The unit is equipped with an old boad with a weak processor and IDE ONLY interface, i could use a PCIE to sata adapter, but i think that a refit a much better idea, i found a motherboard on Aliexpress that shoud fit (some case modifications are required) (Even comes with an NVME slot that i could use with an optane module as a cache)

Cheap aliexpress board

It's a barebone system with a built in Intel Celeron N5105 i noticed that many other commercial NAS protucts use similiar CPUs.

I'm looking foward using this with 4x 4TB drives in RAID 5, with true nas scale, i will also run some containers (NextCloud) and a VM (homeassistant), will the CPU be strong enough? Are there any other options? Also nose that this is my very fist "real nas" (right now, i just have a simple 2tb 3.0 usb drive with a samba share) so. any other suggestions are well accepted!
