My setup:

  • JBODs with single ext4 partition on each
  • a directory on each used with mergerfs
  • some have directories that aren't merged when I want specific data stored on specific drives

What I want to do:

On two of the drives, have a directory on each that get mounted together as a mirrored partition.

I don't want to do physical partitions as I don't know exactly how much space is going to be needed for the mirrored directory vs the mergerfs one and I don't want to have to play partitioning games down the road. The best I can find as a possible solution to do this is maybe glusterfs? Any other ideas?

My goal is to get faster read speeds without sacrificing much write speed when storing files in this spot.
