Needing an AI to tell you where to find the content you actually want in a mess of procedurally generated filler content is the gaming dystopia we're heading for.

Gamefaqs is still the goat and nobody will take it away from me

I refuse to use any gaming guides that don't have cool ASCII art at the top

[–] ProfessorOwl_PhD@hexbear.net 14 points 1 year ago

If they didn't recreate the title screen in ASCII how are you meant to know whether they played the game at all?

[–] Poogona@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago

It isn't a real walkthrough if the first line isn't an ASCII art version of the game's logo

[–] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 23 points 1 year ago (2 children)

But I already own a phone I can just ask a question to get instant results for from a walkthrough or wiki

[–] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 17 points 1 year ago

Exactly. It's so fucking dumb and obvious that they bought into AI as the next big thing before asking what the fuck it's good for.

bro just use the ai its so helpful bro just let take up the screen U can use your mouse prompt builder key to use ai to generate a prompt to ask the right questions of the game ai we're living in the future bro think of all the possibilities endless growth

Nvidia is now the most valuable company in the world because of this AI buzzword, you better believe they are trying as hard as they can to find a use for it other than chat bots. they gotta sell their NPUs somehow.

[–] morrowind@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think they realized they've probably alienated their gamer market and are now trying to appeal to them again

[–] daniyeg@lemmy.ml 24 points 1 year ago (1 children)

no it's probably only for shareholders. they have to make "AI" seem useful in order to keep the bull run on their stock going. this one is probably gonna get filed under "a dozen new AI products revolutionising how we interact with our computers" in the next quarterly report.

[–] UmbraVivi@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Exactly, every time some corporation introduces an AI feature, it's exclusively for the purpose of jingling car keys in front of dumbass investors. Investors have toddler brains.

Waiting for the feedback loop of the inevitable startup company that uses AI to invest people's money in tech businesses and recommend which ones will (possibly) have the best ROI in future, according to the AI. Which due to hype will be the AI stock "prediction" startup.

It'll be the world's first company valued at 1 googolplex USD, then the market will crash, and for some reason the working class will get even poorer.

This AI shit sucks and the fact that every clown ultimately answerable to a gnostic Archon is running full tilt towards it is depressing and I want it to fail more than I want the sun to rise in the morning.

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 19 points 1 year ago

cap-think How can we use AI to generatively insert ads into games?

[–] hexaflexagonbear@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago

Great, AI gonna take my spreadsheet job and my games and I'm gonna work in Musk's lithium nine.

Many of us spend hours researching scouring the internet to learn to dig deeper and ultimately enjoy more of what the game has to offer. This is where Project G-Assist comes in. It uses AI to make sure information is readily available whenever we need it.

How is this possibly going to supplant hours of research? It's basically the equivalent of hitting the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button on Google that takes you to the first result and never looking at anything else, except now since it's AI-generated you can't even judge the accuracy based on the source. Oftentimes there aren't objectively true answers to questions, so it's necessary to read different perspectives to make a decision. And also, I actually LIKE interacting with fellow human beings to find out about games--it's not a bug, it's a feature!

How the fuck else am i supposed to figure out Ranni's questline??

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago

Why does this exist? It's so pointless

[–] MaoTheLawn@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ok seriously should I invest a little stock

The grift train doesn't seem like it'll stop for a while

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago

Brb getting $2 of stock

[–] Findom_DeLuise@hexbear.net 5 points 1 year ago

Pretty sure they had to buy the trademark rights to that name from Hitachi

[–] cosecantphi@hexbear.net 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Tbh sometimes i want to replay a game in a way that isn't fully engaging with all the game mechanics because i'm having fun seeing the story play out but i'm not in a place where i can put in any effort, and this seems great for that

[–] Breath_Of_The_Snake@hexbear.net 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Mods are great for this. Unpopular opinion: every yakuza except , and 8 is firmly in the “download a trainer and cheat like hell” category. For me personally at least.

Great vibes and writing, but fuck hitting xxyxxxxyyxxxxxxyyyyyyy. At least

A tool to help optimize my graphics settings sounds nice. Asking an LLM to make a build for me is a nightmare.
