I recently purchased a 20TB Exos white label drive from eBay, which was advertised as a Seagate refurbished drive. The serial numbers do trace back to Seagate, but I'm experiencing some unusual issues with it. Has anyone else encountered this?

Here's what's happening when I test it with my Windows machine:

  1. With the machine powered off, I plug in the drive, but the machine doesn't boot.
  2. With the machine powered off, I boot to BIOS, and the disk is found. However, after rebooting, the machine doesn't boot.
  3. If I unplug the drive after step 2, the machine boots normally.
  4. If I plug the drive back in at the login screen, the machine freezes.
  5. If I log in first and then plug the drive in, I can see the task manager showing max activity on my main OS SSD before the machine freezes. Unplugging the drive at this point unfreezes the machine.

I've bought a number of drives this way before and never had a serious issue. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime I am reaching out to the seller. The other drive I got seems to work fine.
