I have this really old WD MyBook that I'm trying to backup the data off of. However the drive doesn't seem to spin at all even though the enclosure is powered on. It's a very old model, so much so that I can't quite find much info on it through a search online - its model is WD5000P302.

I want to shuck it in hopes of preserving the data - however I've heard that these old WD MyBooks have some sort of drive encryption that might prevent this? Does anyone have any experience with this? The drive must be at least 10 years old if I were to guess.

Or if the drive doesn't spin at all then might it be completely dead? Thanks for any advice.
