A nonprofit is not driven by generating profit and therefore the motivation is very different than for profit companies. Both have upsides and down sides.
You guys know how many of such projects operate successfully such as Wikipedia, Signal, Tor Project etc. yea, this is not apple to apple comparision at all but jut saying. These are making millions in revenue if numbers to go by.
As Mullvad is run by quite few employees with in house support (a big plus tbh), i was thinkin what if they pivot to becoming a non profit? Many many would be ready to help including privacy advocates to even well wishers and I am wildly guessing their user base is already in millions now in order to sustain further.
I imagine rahter Mullvad becoming so crucial to privacy that donors won't allow it fail and continue poring support coz they'd know how it stands out from the rest
