"274" takes up a lot less space and is far more informative than "scores of". I hate the word phrase "scores of". When media outlets want to manipulate public sentiment they use to make the number in question seem a lot (if not vastly) smaller.

I think when the average American hears the word "scores" they very roughly imagine something like 50 to 100. That sounds a hell of a lot better than the first media reports that indicated the estimated number was - at the time - probably ~200.

And even now when the number is 274 - they still use it!

Whats with the new phrase "scores of" - seems like it is repeated everywhere among supposedly independent news institution, this one from NYT

All we can do is keep marching, agitating, fighting. Because Israel has, against all odds, brought a reckoning upon it that I never thought I'd see.

The state now can't survive long term, and now thebonly question is how it falls and if it can be done with maximum equity and minimum bloodshed. We can pay a part in making the state collapse internally.

Because the other option is a regional war and possibly a short terror by the oppressed Palestinians, despite the infinite forbareance and compassion and mercy they've shown so far. And who could blame them?

There were some 400 non fatal casualties as well that will probably die due to lack of medical care in the next few days. So even that number is already kinda sugar coating it.
