tldr what we see now is degradation of russian artillery, logistic hubs and other assets in preparation for future campaign. long range fires against depots and high command are important, counterbattery is something that russians can't do well because of slower information flow. further attrition of artillery is necessary before armoured push. artillery + drones will have to be used to do things that in nato armies airstrikes do. Ukrainians try to limit casualties now
