Looks pretty cool, but I find it a bit weird that like 20% of it is dedicated to plants and the rest to sitting in a very hot circle.

I think it's within an outdoor garden. Maybe provides a bit of shelter for lunch when you're tending the garden outside. Especially in winter. Temperature regulation by opening or closing the vents.
That would be a miserable place for a meal.
At least during daytime. Maybe it's nice in the evening.
That's definitely a maybe. The humidity in there has me doubtful.

Ooh throw a small fire pit or wood stove in the middle and it would be great for fall gatherings when there's snow on the ground
