I currently have two 2tb hdd wd that are half duplicate of the important stuff and half random. I was about to get a 4tb hdd and someone recommended getting an ssd instead since it is faster and shouldnt fail mechanically. What I care about the most is reliability and lifespan without maintenance, does either of those require some software to run through the data to not go stale? I mostly just want to back up my media there without headache...
