Hello all,

Total noob here. I’m looking to get a home NAS mostly for storage and as a media server using Plex. I have a budget of about $1K all in so I want to get the best value. My biggest want is the most storage I can get, and for it to be accessible remotely.

WD is selling a 28TB My Cloud EX2 Ultra for $800, though I know that WD is not everyone’s favorite.

I’ve looked at Synology but I don’t think I can put together a decent NAS with even near the storage capacity for that price.

Also, I’m definitely not technical enough to build my own.

Any reason I shouldn’t get this, or alternatives to recommend?

All help is appreciated!
