I would say he's dipping his toes in the presidential election waters, but he probably prefers to dip his fingers.

Trump can still technically be elected as a felon. There is nothing in the American constitution preventing it and I know his supporters will not be swayed by his conviction
Is he not being allowed to continue running or something? I likely don't have all the details bc this is new
I think some states disallow felons from running, but that might be for state-level elections only.
