While I am glad that organization exists to help dogs, sounds like it's run by a bunch of assholes. I went into the article expecting to hate the woman, but since we still live in capitalism, she couldn't afford it, and the professionals had given their profesional advice.

I don't know, this is a weird story all around. Someone is lying, and my money is on the shelter ("We don't allow owners to stay with the pets during the euthanasia" my ass), but who knows?

All I know is the veterinarian I know constantly complains about owners who choose not to stay with the pet.

A clinic that doesn't allow owners to be with pets during euthanasia? Oh HELL NO. That is some sketchy bullshit.

Too bad someone in that area doesn't just adopt him, then contact his original owner. Sounds like she would be overjoyed to reimburse any costs.

This is a weird story, where the pet and owner fell down through a very rare set of circumstances that keeps them apart.

Always get a second opinion before euthanasia.

She did.

The dog's veterinarian, the clinic's lead veterinarian and an animal emergency room veterinarian all agreed the dog's inability to control his bowels and lift his hind legs pointed to a severe neurological problem, Pereira said.___
