and they made sure that the footage looked just as blurry and low res as the actual game running on a PS2 to make it fit seamlessly

That is until you play the game 20 years later on an emulator and you go from lovely upscaled gameplay to sub-DVD quality videos with tons of in-built aliasing

spoilerFor a non-emulator example, fire up the DMC HD Collection and check out most of the cutscenes in DMC3, they look like absolute ass next to the few cutscenes that weren't pre-recorded

Lol even funnier is the ps3 era FFXIII, game runs in 4k on X1X or PC, but the ui is still 720p and the upscale does an awful job with text. You get crisp and detailed characters and the ugliest menu you've ever seen.

Almost all of those endings suck, lmao. I remember this game being very difficult and broken, but the positive side was that it introduced Shinnok, Quan Chi and Tanya to the main Mortal Kombat series.

They fall into the "so bad it's good" for me which is why I mentioned them. Quality wise, yeah compared to other games they are doodoo.

Yeah it's always funny that people think that games from that era looked as good as they do unscaled in HD on an emulator. Nah, they were blurry as hell.
