"Fatally attacked" didn't quite fit the title, but maybe that's just me

was killed when a man they knew from the area stabbed him in the neck, said the heartbroken woman.

Not sure what it is exactly...

Maybe language would be less ambiguous if we specifically invented words to describe people who were "fatally attacked with a knife".
