I recently took apart my old laptop and removed the HDD from . But when I connect the 2.5 inch SSD to pc with given power and sata cable, it does not show up in the pc and shows error that

The last USB device connected to this computer malfunctioned.

It is a WD 2.5 HDD from 2011.

Please can someone provide solution/
