I watched an episode of his show "Comedians in Cars getting coffee" once. It started with Jerry picking up Zach Galifianakis in his car and them talking about university. Jerry immediately started going (paraphrasing) "It's a shame you can't say what you want at university anymore everything is censored. Is it really like that now?" Zach was like "I dunno man I graduated over a decade ago?" And Jerry was just like "Oh... Anyway it sucks that university is so woke and censored now, right?"

Neither of them had stepped inside a university in decades and yet he was talking about what university is supposedly like these days. Zero real world experience, all vibes.

Let that sink in while he gets his free degree.

I never watched that show except I did see a bit of the one where he invited Michael Richards to a coffee shop so they could talk about how sorry he really wasn't for being a racist piece of shit and how Jerry stood by him no matter what. That was all I needed to know about either of them.

I remember watching a few of them years and years ago when they were first coming out. They were just standard media interviews. Seems like Jerry's brain has melted hard in the meantime

Why would Duke give Seinfeld an honorary degree thirty years after he stopped being relevant? Is it just virtue signaling by giving something free to a jewish zionist?

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 42 points 1 year ago (1 children)

A couple of his kids went there. Maybe they're hoping he'll spring a few dozen million in thanks so they can do a renovation on an important building or they can create the Jerry Seinfeld Institute of Hasbara Studies.

It's a degree about nothing!

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 14 points 1 year ago

I wonder how they'll respond. It will probably go into negative karma and it won't get any comments at all. But you never know.

He only attended because he mistook it for a nearby high school that’s also named Duke

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago

Because he just released a movie on Netflix. Thats why there was a ton of articles about him and all the dumb shit he has to stay. Its all about sone shitty movie on a streaming service thst no one wants to see

the age gap is distasteful

I'm almost tempted to check that person's posting history to see if they are a liberal because that sounds a lot like "it's ephebophilia" libertarian talk.

this isn't even true I could swear they were dating while she was straight up 17

[–] Pentacat@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago

He was sending a car to pick her up from school.

Jerry if you read this how does it feel knowing you were never funny and rode Larry David's coattails into a billion dollars?

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 23 points 1 year ago

Should have just drowned him out with a bunch of slap bass riffs

But seriously fuck this clown. Larry David and the rest of the cast made that show memorable. If he had stuck to standup everyone today would be like "Jerry who?"

An r/duke thread

I was there - the news is over blowing this. The protest was small (25-50 out of 7000 kids), it was peaceful and the protest was a walk out (i.e. they left) so it did not disrupt the commencement. Jerry was funny and there were no politics in his speech. This was a group of students who missed out on HS graduation, prom, senior skip day and other fun/accolades due to COVID. They also were isolated and online for first year of college. Glad they got to finally graduate in person.

Love how people there are arguing it was okay to date for him to date a 17 yr old

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 4 points 1 year ago

Jerry was funny

doubt

and there were no politics in his speech

There's no such thing asca non political speech, buy even less so when your wife is funding counterprotests around the country

Sunday, Mr. Seinfeld played to the crowd, telling students: “You’re never going to believe this: Harvard used to be a great place to go to school. Now it’s Duke.”

When has Duke ever been a good school for anything other than basketball?

[–] TheDoctor@hexbear.net 13 points 1 year ago

Isn’t it a pretty prestigious school? For reference i went to community college because that’s what I could afford.

[–] Pentacat@hexbear.net 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Tbf Duke is a pretty big research school for grad school and undergrad is highly regarded, as well. I don’t think Seinfeld would have been able to get in before he got famous.
