Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Lol the cops show up and start arresting the black people. Not even surprised.

It seems like in this case they arrested most of the people involved on both sides, that first black guy that they put in cuffs they only did right after he clocked that lady in the jaw like 3ft in front of a police officer.

[–] money_loo@kbin.social 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Well yeah they were winning, usually you have to arrest the people who are winning first because it would be awkward to try to arrest someone while they're getting their ass beat.

[–] Thedogspaw@midwest.social 4 points 2 years ago

Excuse me sir but could you kindly stop beating that mans ass so I may arrest them kind sir

[–] trias10@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (4 children)

The cops were all black too.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 21 points 2 years ago

In the video I watched they arrested the guy who hit people, including a woman who wasn't in the brawl at the time, with a folding chair.

[–] zaph@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I like how you specifically point out the one blow a black person in the fight made that was fucked up and completely ignore the fact that the white pieces of shit started the violence. Very telling.

Dude wtf. His comment was in response to the police arresting black people and he was saying why that might make sense.

As has been said, you control active threats first for your own safety. Calm down.

[–] zaph@lemmy.world -3 points 2 years ago

I completely understand subduing all active threats until you figure out what happened and who is actually a threat but the comment I replied to only mentioned one person and I was pointing that out.

The best part of the article is our hero Aaren:

Quote:

As authorities try to untangle the incident, a man who was seen swimming across the river to the aid of the riverboat worker was partly identified as “Aaren”.

“In the face of adversity, Aaren selflessly came to the rescue of a fellow colleague, showcasing courage beyond his years,” a statement from his publicist, Makina Lashea, read.

[–] DingleBoone@reddthat.com 39 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Damn, Aaren's already got a publicist

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 14 points 2 years ago

Aaren is prepared every time.

[–] archomrade@midwest.social 11 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Nah, that wasn't Aaron, it was Aquaman

[–] stopthatgirl7@kbin.social 6 points 2 years ago
[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Aaren could clearly kick Aquaman's butt.

[–] Spendrill@lemm.ee 45 points 2 years ago

Police also appealed to the public for help in determining what had happened.

'It appears to the untrained eye that this is a simple case of some white people fucking around and finding out but we need some white witnesses to tell us that it is all the black suspects fault.'

[–] Vaggumon@lemmy.world 20 points 2 years ago

Thoughts and chairs.

[–] I_AM_CORNHOLIO@startrek.website 9 points 2 years ago

Fucking lol. Imagine fucking your life up because you hate the way dark skinned people look or some shit.

[–] Lexam@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 years ago

You know to defend the white guys that were involved in this unfortunate incident, would be fucking stupid.
