I kept rats for a few years. I had a baby who could slip between the bars. I worried about it for days before i noticed they never went far and would always go back to the other rats.
They're such sweeties but they live such short lives. A lot of mine were rescues so they were already a year old when i got them. It was just heartbreaking watching them go so soon.
When i had my first death i did a whole viking funeral. I wrapped her in linen, built a little ship out of cardboard and tape. I packed it with yogurt drops and toys and her favorite rag. I sent an invitation out on fb just because, and twenty people showed up to bear witness as i lit the fire and pushed her little boat out in to the lake.
