Non joke aside, fuck prom. It's only as cool as you want it to be, and if you had fun, that's all that matters.
..............????? Completely untrue. I was cool at that age. And I did it by not giving one flying fuck. I'd have looked at this group and rolled my eyes. Until I saw Peter Griffen in the top right, and laughed my ass off.
Then I'd have gone home, smoked some weed, and played some N64.

I've been wondering why the population here seems to skew older compared to Reddit. Maybe younger people don't really care about the direction Reddit has gone over the last ~5 years? Or maybe they always used the official app and never knew pre-enshittification Reddit...
I think it more just skews technical.
Probably the younger folks went to short form video sites like tiktok. That seems to be their jam.

One of the guys in my prom group won prom king and then we all went home in my mom's minivan and then played pinball and watched laserdiscs and betamax because I pretty much lived in a museum.

I actually dated the guy in the bottom left corner of the photo. He is the one squatting down, with no dress jacket on; just a long sleeve dress shirt. We dated for about three and a half years after high school ended. We almost got married. I was madly in love with him. I think he married someone that also went to our former high school. She isn’t in this photo, though. They dated after our relationship ended.
My guess is that they liked someone else but didn't like anyone in the group.
Or there are a lot of unrequited feelings in this picture.
