True, I could create an "IAMA" community, however I would prefer using this community [assuming it's allowed] because that would mirror the r/askreddit community that most people here are probably familiar with, which is an advantage
I feel like it fits the intent of the community, but yea you'd need a mod to weigh in

I always assumed it was a pun. AMA = Ask Me Anything. IAMA = I Am A
You say pun, but do you mean acronym? Although IAmA wouldn't really be an acronym, would it. Hmm...
