Sony did, technically, and for me it's not so much the inconvenience or the principle so much as Sony's multiple massive data breaches in recent history

There's 100,000 people playing on Steam, plus however many on PS. I hope Sony budges on this but news of the game's death are somewhat premature.
I’m glad I didn’t give into the hype and buy this game for me and my wife. She’s in the PRC, and I’m pretty sure their PSN is separate from everyone else’s. Would’ve been a big waste of money.
