It's nice but still usually a bit of a pain to move like exactly one character
AFAIK Lineage always had arrow keys in the bottom row next to the back/home/menu buttons which was super convenient

There was a brief, glorious time when iPhone X and XS users could press firmly anywhere on the keyboard to switch to cursor control
I think if you press on the spacebar and move around you can still do this on iPhone, I've definitely used one recently that you could move the cursor up, down, left & right by moving your held finger on the spacebar.
I just leave voicemails and it makes them into words to post
