It really resonated when he said that executives are so far removed from the actual work that they have no idea how it's performed. I've never met the executives that decide on the policies of my workplace. They don't even live in my country. How can they dictate how I do my job?

He's right that workers violate policy in order to get work done, because following it exactly would result in failure and failure is always blamed on the worker. A union ensures executives can't blame low productivity on workers instead of their own mismanagement.
